Room 206
First off let me say the heading of this paper is misleading. This is not just my classroom it is yours as well. It also belongs to all the residents of Groton and Dunstable and it will be treated with respect. You are expected to take care of this room!!!!! Failure to properly police your treatment of this room will result in methods to persuade you to do so!!
Food and Drinks
NOPE!!!! Bottled water only. If you are coming to this class from lunch or break anything you bring back with you must be deposited in the trash upon entering…no “one more bite Mr. Murphy PLEEEEAAASE!” Toss it in the barrel.
Electronics
I agree with and follow all school policies on this. No Ipods , U pods, me pod, he pods or she pods…nothing that plays music, video etc…. No playstations, nintendoes Ataris etc… If I catch students playing games on their calculators they are confiscated until the end of the day. If I SEE a cell phone it will also be confiscated. If you are in the room your cell phone is in your bag.
Behavior
I expect you to act above your age. In class you will respect others, our classroom and me. You will remain in your seat unless you have a valid reason to be out of it…for example sharpen a pencil, get a pass to go the bathroom, hand in papers or to take part in classroom activities.
Leaving Class
Pass and sign out procedure: VERY IMPORTANT
If you need to leave the room you must fill out a blue pass, fill out the sign out book and then bring the pass to me for a signature.
Leaving class is NOT a right it is a privilege. You must make every effort to use the restrooms between periods, at your break or at your lunch. If you really need to use the bathroom you may ask me for a pass. I may sign it. If I notice a pattern or an overuse of the privilege by a single person or more than one I will curtail the privilege for all.
If you need to go to the nurse for anything less than an emergency please follow pass and sign out procedure. If there is an emergency please notify me and I will help in any way needed.
You may NOT leave the room “to get a drink,” “to get some food,” “make a phone call,” etc…
If you need to speak to administration or guidance you must go to those offices and get a pass ahead of time either before school, during your break or lunch or after school.
Absence and Tardiness
Again, I agree with and follow the school’s policy. You must be in class before the bell rings. If not you are tardy. If you arrive under fifteen minutes after the bell rings without a pass. You are tardy. If you arrive after fifteen minutes without a pass YOU are absent. Six tardies is an absence!! More than seven absences you fail the class. Consult the student handbook for more information.
Extra Credit
There is NO EXTRA CREDIT. If a student does their work completely and effectively and pays attention and participates in class there is no need for "extra credit."
Extra Help
I am more than willing to assist any student that needs or wants extra help. I can stay after school upon request ahead of time.
